Youth Football With Fire In The Fall-Brighton Twp,PA

I guess being that our little girl Autumn made the blog that our son Stone would be on here soon…

Football in Pennsylvania still is a mystery to me. Being mostly from the southern states I wasn’t “raised” around football. I still don’t quite understand the game but I know for sure that I am the biggest hype girl for my boy Stone and the Brighton Twp Bears. I’m lucky that I have a husband who knows the game and even had the chance to coach our sweet son. So grateful that we are in a place to be able to support him coaching such an awesome team. Of course its a dream to coach your child’s team. Third grade brought him up a level and big boy really show up. (at least I think so). Proud is an understatement. Proud of both of them, showing up for the team…and also for showing up for each other.

I think I might have had a harder adjustment than they did. I’m definitely not one for “unfairness” or general rudeness in a game…especially not at THIS level. But I got a difficult lesson in managing expectations. I had to see my 9 year-old get sucker punched after plays, called a “little b” by other teams players and hear people talk about how much they hate my husband for no reason other than playing time. (I think) It brings out the fear in me that their dream might end before it starts or it might get squished. Those two are the nicest boys you will ever meet. Matt says its apart of the game (to a certain degree)…to not personalize it and to say “thank you” when you’re treated poorly or called a name.

I say…you know who you married right?

So then I HAD to hand the boy some fire? So he knows where he came from.

( SAFELY DONE. DO NOT TRY AT HOME! )

The trees in fall at Hardy Field in Brighton Twp, PA had the location matching the Bears uniform just right. They ended the season in second place losing in the finals to Beaver Falls. (lost a tooth midgame too!)
