I got a last minute call. The BEST kind. A need from a friend not knowing a friend needed something!
I have an actual LOVE of history. A LOVE of people. A LOVE of photography. Let’s just mix it all together and have a night out combining all my favorites. It was magical. Beautiful artwork every five feet, carvings on every ledge and border. Even the elevator was from a trip back in time. If you were within my vicinity you could here the gasps and shocks of awe. Not that it takes much to impress me but ok do I even to qualify be here?
The Duquesne Club in Pittsburgh was the setting… an unbelievable gala to impress, a chance to be Crystal for a moment, and a night of bringing laughter will always be my jam. I love a good flower field but being raised by military parents (Lt. Col father) in the 90’s gave me the structure for these events. And boy do I LOVE a chance like this. The smell of the Duquesne Club will hit you first…like vintage fabric and flowers. Gold details in the elevators make you question where your going and from what timeframe you might travel. Then the sound of raining water from the fountain room draws you into an oasis from another world. Where am I again?
Being the only photographer that evening I was working from start to finish with barely the moment to really partake in its splendor, but I did sneak in a few poorly shot details while I made my way through the beautiful people.
I hope to be here again. I now have a small flake of what they have to offer. And I might be hooked.
